The only states that conduct their own tests are Hawaii and New York. All other states utilize the MBLEx for a licensing exam. Check our state information pages located on the left hand side of our homepage for detailes concerning your state. When subscribing to our site to review for the Hawaii State exams we recommend the MBLEx review, and the NCETMB for New York.
• If I take and pass the MBLEx in my state, will I be licensed in another state?
No, each state has different requirements for licensure. You must apply in each state you wish to practice massage. Each regulated state accepts the MBLEx, sans Hawaii and New York. You may not have to take another licensing exam, just send proof of passing with the new states application to receive a license. Contact the State boards to ask if they will accept your current qualifications. You may need to take additional classroom hours to obtain a license. When applying to take the MBLEx, there will be a box to enter your state. You may enter more then one state at time of application for results to be sent to each state board. If you wish to have results sent to another state not listed on your MBLEx application, you will need to fill out the MBLExMobility Form.
• My state accepts both the NCETMB and the MBLEx. What is the difference?
The NCETM/TMB is no longer a licensing exam choice. FSMTB and NCBTMB have reached an Agreement. NCBTMB will no longer accept applications to utilize their Licensing exams effective November 1, 2014 for completion February 1, 2015. The MBLEx will be the sole licensing exam for the Massage Profession, this will facilitate portability and standardization for Massage Therapists. The MBLEx is administered by an affiliation of each states government Massage Therapy Board and approves a license to practice massage within that state.
Statement released on March 20, 2015 to clarify the agreement between the Federation and NCBTMB.
The MBLEx was designed to be a straightforward exam, with no confusing or deterring questions and answers. The MBLEx is geared more toward a newly graduating student of a 500 hour course. The NCETM/TMB is no longer an approved licensing exam.
• When will I get my exam scores?
Our online practice exams are graded instantly and can be viewed by clicking the grade exam button at the end of each exam or by clicking the eye graphic next to the graded exams on your results page.
The MBLEx is administered by Pearson VUE, after you have selected the completed button on your exam the scores are sent to the Proctors who will deliver the results to you before you exit the testing center.
The FSMTB who is in charge of the MBLEx, will send the passing results to the state you listed on the MBLEx application within 24 hours. After a passing score is sent to the state, each state board has their own time frame for approving and issuing a state license.
Some will argue that the MBLEx is much easier because they don’t try to deter or deceive you. However if you are properly prepared you can effectively pass. It also depends upon your test taking skills, if you are confident and approach each question carefully reading each word and disqualifying the absolutely wrong answers, you can work your way to the right answer by process of elimination. Take a look at the MBLEx Details page for more information about the MBLEx experience.
• Why does your site have so many questions?
Some are under the impression that our site will give you the exact questions from the MBLEx. Nowhere on our site does it state this and that would infringe upon copyright laws. However because we have compiled a comprehensive review of basic massage curriculum, our database will allow you to completely review what you have covered in your schools to build your confidence on the content and format of the licensing exam. Our rationale that accompanies each graded question also solidifies your studies with helpful hints or explanations that support the content of the question.
• If I subscribe to your site, how many times can I take the test?
Our site’s only restriction is time. The amount of review tests you take is up to you. You may use our site any time day or night whenever you find the time to review. We recommend an hour a day for best results.
The actual MBLEx must have a new application and fee each time the test is taken. A 30-day period is required from failed attempt to obtain an ATT or Authorization to Test for another attempt at the MBLEx.
You may register on our site using Paypal or a major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Amex and Discover). Gift cards will not process unless you have registered address information with the card issuer. If the address feature is not available, the Gift Card will not be accepted by our processing center.
• Why was my transaction declined?
All cardholder and billing information must match the credit card billing statement address or the transaction will be declined, verify the correct address before submitting payment.
• My bankcard said I was charged, why don’t I have access?
Our system will activate your access the moment the payment transaction is complete. If the card transaction was declined, you will not have access. Bankcards or debit cards have additional security features attached to online transactions. If the exact information is not submitted on the first transaction the card issuer will not allow further transactions to process but will hold the funds as pending, making them available to us in the event that we try to run your card again and gain those funds. This will not happen, we do not have the ability to run your card without your authorization. The card issuer will hold the funds for 3-5 business days. Our card-processing center does not have the authority to hold funds or reprocess the transaction without you going through the online or helpdesk subscription process again. Calling your card company and confirming your online purchase will allow the transaction to proceed.
• Are the questions on your site the exact questions I will see on my licensing exam?
No, doing so would infringe upon the respective exam’s copyrights. Our site has compiled basic massage curriculum review questions. These questions along with what you learned in school will give you a complete review of content in preparation for passing your exams.

You will receive an emaill, giving the testing date range and permission to test authorization information. You will not be able to test without this email being sent to you first. It can take up to 5 business days before a response is given.

• Are the tests randomly selected?
Each category selection you choose to test in has a certain number of questions to pull the exams from. The questions created from this queue, if answered correctly, will go to the back of the category queue. Questions answered incorrectly will stay at the front of the queue so you will see them again in order to make sure you can answer them correctly. Once you answer those questions correctly, they will go to the back of the queue.
• How do I know when I am ready to take my Licensing Exam?
We believe that a category percentile score of 80% and above is a good indicator for exam readiness. The Random exam category pulls questions from each category just like the MBLEx. Utilize this section to test your abilities to answer questions in every category and try for 80% or better. Your confidence and knowledge base will be strengthened, to help you prepare for your licensing exam.
If at any time you change your mind and need to switch the review exams. You can log into the site and choose the “My Profile” tab at the top of the page. Then click the “Change Password/Edit Profile” link, and change your exam then save the profile. Yes, you will see the same questions from our database, the origins and insertions along with its actions do not change. The major difference in the exam review database pool is the Complimentary Alternative Medicine questions (CAM) when switching from the NCETMB to the MBLEx or NCETM. When you are studying with the MBLEx and NCETM, you will still have a CAM category to test from. This category provides your CAM modality definitions, history of massage, and CPR questions.
• What do I do if I have a question about the content of a question?

• I was taking a practice exam, and I got kicked out. Why?
Our program will only kick you out of the site if you have been idle for more than 45 minutes. If you are being kicked off earlier then that, your web browser may have a time out feature. To avoid this from happening you can change the setting parameters established by the browser, or click every so often on the page when working on a question that might take longer then 10 minutes to answer.
• Does the MBLEx have Complimentary Alternative Medicine (CAM) questions?
The MBLEx only has modality definition questions pertaining to CAMs, it does not contain assessment and application techniques about those CAMs. You will find the definitions along with CPR and History questions in the Complimentary Alternative Modalities category of the exam section choices.
• I am studying the content for the MBLEx why is there a Complimentary Alternative Medicine (CAM) category?
The MBLEx has modality definition questions pertaining to CAMs, but not assessment and application questions about those CAMs. You will find the definitions along with CPR and History questions in the Complimentary Alternative Modalities and Random categories of the exam section choices.
Each category selection where you choose to test has a certain number of questions to pull the exams from. The exams created from this queue, if answered correctly will go to the back of the category queue. The questions answered incorrectly will stay at the front of the queue so you will see them again before the questions you answered correctly. If you are testing in the same category multiple times and you answer a question incorrectly you will see it again, but never in the same review exam.
